
Kate Dowman is a freelance soprano soloist based in London. Kate is in demand as an Oratorio and Operatic soloist and gives regular private recitals of Opera, Sacred and Celtic music.
Kate Dowman was born on the Isle of Man and surrounded by Celtic music and the mythical stories of the island. She cannot remember a time she wasn’t singing. Kate read music at the University of Leeds, already an accomplished performer regularly commanding solo Opera and Oratorio roles with leading vocal groups around the country and performing on UK National Radio and television. Kate made her international debut at age 18 singing to 55,000 people in the Ajax stadium, Amsterdam.
Kate continued her professional Opera training in Australia with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, performing in venues around Australia including the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall. She was also the soprano soloist for St Mary’s cathedral for the two years she spent in Sydney and was featured on Australian television.
Since her return to the UK in 2007, Kate sings regularly with Opera Holland Park amongst other professional opera companies and is recording her debut album for release in 2011.
Kate has performed in front of the British Prime Minister, the Mayor of London, Madonna, Goldie, the Maharaja of Jodpur, at Milan Fashion week , for Bulgari and Ferrari and has toured as far as Tokyo and China. Kate has sung the National Anthems at Twickenham Rugby Stadium and Upton Park Football stadium. She is currently recording her debut album and is the face of new opera website Opus Arte.
