Gill Manly

"Gill Manly has been a well-kept secret for far too long…..and is in sublime vocal form. A real treat."           Sir Richard Rodney Bennett

Gill Manly has a truly amazing voice and is one of the great British jazz vocal artists. Around on the UK scene for 20 years, Gill is a soulful jazz and blues diva that has a voice able to move thousands. Gill combines a smooth elegance with a unique and dramatic power.

Following an absence from singing for seven years whilst she pursued a spiritual trail (including singing for the Dalai Lama), Gill Manly made her triumphant return to the British Jazz Circuit in 2007.  Immediately straight back in great form, Gill reminded us all that she was and always has been the London Jazz Diva. Gill’s constant search for fabulous melodies and lyrics has had her resurface on a level that has been hailed as “sublime” “world class” and “masterful”.

Gill Manly has recently released her stunning new CD  “WITH A SONG IN MY HEART”, a tribute to the great Nina Simone. Mentored and encouraged over the years by so many legendry figures, including Mark Murphy, Sheila Jordan and Tony Bennett, Gill has built a repertoire and an individual style which captivates audiences. Always bringing a freshness to classics and standards, she manages to combine both looseness and elegance in her vocal delivery.

“Gill Manly achieves something few vocalists do -- a fresh reworking of standards offered here with a brand new shine”.

”Everything sounds effortless and her ballad singing is masterful. I remember thinking the day I first heard her that she was world-class”

“GREAT singing is a wholly natural, seemingly god-given thing that channels vulnerability and momentarily changes the shape of the listener's heart....it can surge, destroy, upset, glorify, heal, elate, strengthen and clarify. Gill Manly is this"......Ian Shaw 2007
